Duendes & Amapolas

“Goblins and Poppies” is a tribute to my maternal grandmother, who used to tell us stories about goblins in her garden. We grandchildren would fall silent, gazing at the very spot where she pointed her finger. Years later, I asked her the reason behind this habit, and she told me it was because goblins had been the cartoons of her childhood—back in the countryside, amidst flowers and insects, with neither televisions nor books.
